When industrial designer Leonardo Liendo approached me about designing something for my studio I couldn't say no. As exciting as that sounded, I suggested we go one step further and release a collarbrative collection. The result. 2 designers. 2 pieces. 1 vision.
After much discussion about what kind of furniture we were looking to produce, we settled on a classic. The side table. Step one complete.

The Vision
Next was the overall vision of how we wanted these new designs to look. They had to fit the Blackwood Studio aesthetic and use those foundations to create their own unique identities. We decided that the spec for these tables should be highly geometric in nature; classic lines that would look good for years to come.

The Execution
We went our separate ways for several weeks to give life to these fleeting ideas. A flurry of pen + paper, 3d models, and AI renders quickly produced two forms known as Ume and Crease. Each one very individual in nature, yet unified in language. Production soon began and before we knew it Leonardo Liendo X Blackwood was born.

The Launch
With both side tables fully realized from concept to completion, they were released into the wild under Blackwood Studio.
Ume, seen here in black, is a Japanese-inspired side table designed by Leonardo Liendo.
Crease, seen in white and maple, is a multi-functional table designed by Leighton Hill.
